Agua Viva

Agua Viva is a new play by F. Figueiredo and Bernie C. Byrnes. A story steeped in the magical and mysterious atmosphere of Candomble ritual (an African-based Brazilian religion). This stunning drama explodes onto the stage, plunging you into a surreal, spiritual world, alive with symbolism and poetry

This sensual and lavish physical production weaves storytelling and dance to create a sumptuous and exotic theatrical event. Agua Viva explores, by way of an abstract environment, current social pressures in an effort to reflect the turbulent times in which we live.

Jim Fowler's dream-like score and subdued, reddish lighting add atmosphere to this limbo like world. Meanwhile, Lu Firth's exquisite costumes, which see the performers dressed head to toe in beautifully handmade crimson frocks, bring a touch of class to the production.
